About the Role

The primary focus of the Business Development Manager role will be to generate the new opportunity pipeline for the Sellafield Business (including LLWR, Springfields and National Nuclear laboratory).  This will be achieved through the development of exceptional relationships at all levels within the customer organisation and wider where required (e.g. potential suppliers and partners), in order to create customer satisfaction, loyalty and increased revenue opportunities.  
The primary area of accountability will be to identify and develop future business growth opportunities for the Sellafield Business, while also assisting the Business Director in protecting existing revenues. This will be achieved through a consultative selling approach- working with customers to identify problems and issues within their business and developing solutions to meet those needs.

You will provide feedback to the Sellafield Business Director & Business Winning Director on status of the opportunity pipeline within their area of accountability. You will lead the development of Capture Plans and Gate Packs (Gate 0-3) for all major opportunities identified in the pipeline and design, develop and implement the Customer Relationship strategy as agreed with the BD Director including:

  • Customer satisfaction measures
  • Services improvement initiatives
  • Communications/ Stakeholder Management Plan.

You will act as the Customer Representative by understanding the customer satisfaction levels that are currently delivered and feeding information back to the wider business as appropriate as well as developing and maintaining the Sellafield Business (including LLWR, Springfields and National Nuclear laboratory) Stakeholder Management Plan.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

You will require experience of pursuing and securing opportunities at Sellafield, LLWR, Springfields and National Nuclear Laboratory along with a well-established customer network at Sellafield, LLWR, Springfields and National Nuclear Laboratory. You must be able to communicate confidently at all levels, with a proven track record in delivering new growth opportunities and shaping procurement strategy, through building trust and relationships with other companies and stakeholders.

You will need to have proven experience in the use of influencing and negotiating skills, comprehensive understanding of relevant technology or the ability on appointment to gain this knowledge and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, establishing and maintaining customer service relationships. We are looking for someone with strong organisational traits and ability to respect importance of and meet deadlines, someone with knowledge of the end to end Business Winning process and management system but with particular emphasis on working experience of the Gate 1 to Gate 5 phase and someone with the ability to work under pressure in meeting deadlines – not just bid submission dates but also interim gate reviews.
