Package: £54,500 - £78,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

The role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finite Element Analyst to join the Thermomechanical Effects Team to lead the development of our multi-component simulation capability. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finite Element Analysis Engineer to embark on the next step in their career and be responsible for leading complex programmes of work.

You will be constructing finite element analysis models using Abaqus to undertake thermo-structural analysis of individual components and integrated systems, developing relationships with engineering, and supporting product certification.

This is to support the design and approval process, troubleshoot complex problems and assist with new technology research. This will involve constructing FE models from drawings/CAD, de-featuring models and applying appropriate meshes to models to enable quantities of interest to be resolved.

To be a success in this role you will need;

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's in physics or engineering and/or a PhD related to finite element analysis

  • Experience in performing dynamic and thermo-mechanical analysis

  • Experience in stakeholder management and establishing interdepartmental relationships

  • Able to articulate decisions and strategy and support with the why and context to bring the decision to life

  • Identify and promote ideas which continuously improve technology capabilities.

  • Contribute to the success of the thermomechanical effects team by coaching and mentoring more junior staff.

  • Maintain an awareness of emerging techniques, tools and methods for finite element analysis.

  • Experience in managing interfaces between different analysis codes

  • Extensive experience in FEA (preferably Abaqus)

  • Experience in different mesh types and their application to complex geometry

  • Knowledge of at least one data analysis tool (Python, Perl, C++, Fortran)
