Assystem is a pioneer in developing digital solutions for the engineering environment, specialising in highly regulated industries such as Nuclear, Defence and Rail.

Assystem have begun assembling a team of pioneers who will help to shape the future of nuclear, defence and transportation industry through our engineering powered by digital programme. The Industrial System Architect is a key part of this team that will form the core of our recently established digital engineering centre, and will be tasked with developing new services, better systems, and new approaches to delivering engineering and construction environments and practices of the future.

The Role: Industrial System Architect

In this newly created role, the Industrial System Architect will work with digital and engineering teams to develop system architectures for industrial systems for use in digitally transformed delivery such as digital twin solutions. With experience of operational technology, they will deliver the vision of integrated systems and develop new services and capability within Assystem, enabling us to deliver the energy and defence strategy in the UK.

ou will be a self-starter who is passionate about digital transformation and work to drive changes to Assystem and in our client organisations. You will be able to work with people across all areas of business.

We are seeking someone who can work collaboratively at all levels across multi-functional teams with an enthusiastic and flexible attitude to problem solving.

Knowledge of the Industrial Hardware and Data Management processes would be useful as Industrial Data Architect will be expected to create system models and integrate hardware and software to deliver high technology solutions such as digital twins.

Outstanding communication skills are essential as we expect the successful candidate to work collaboratively with customers, in-house teams, and members of the supply chain. This will include Suppliers, Consultants, Contractors, the Project Delivery Teams, Commercial and Legal Teams.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Establishing processes and skills required to enhance Assystem's service delivery
  • Keeping abreast of best practice and developments in industry and applying them where sensible to do so
  • Developing people, from graduates to experienced members of the team
  • Defining, documenting and optimising processes as part of the Assystem our way' system
  • Working with colleagues across the globe to bring in, or share, best practices and workshare opportunities
  • Identifying areas where digital transformation and data remodelling will return value
  • Support to marketing of Assystem System Engineering offering

Your background:

Experience from highly regulated industries such as Nuclear, Energy, Transportation, and Infrastructure is highly desirable, but Assystem will consider candidates from other data rich industries.

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in related field
  • Significant experience in a relevant discipline
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking and negotiation
  • Experience of at least one of Internet of Things platforms, Cybersecurity, Industrial Control Systems.

Security clearance:
Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
