Location: Reading area (Potential opportunity for hybrid working in some roles)

Package: £33,300 - £60,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

AWE is currently recruiting Linux Workstation Specialists to work within our High Performance Computing area. As a Linux Workstation Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing the entire Linux workstation development and deployment strategy. This includes provisioning, security, software and patch deployment, performance management and integration with existing systems. You will need to work with other teams to find solutions to the different needs of our Scientific and Engineering user community.

Technical skills required:

  • Good knowledge of Linux operating systems (CentOS, Redhat, Ubuntu)

  • Operating system patching and troubleshooting

  • Linux package distribution

  • Python and / or Bash scripting

  • Good understanding of Networking basics

  • Experience of CFEngine or Saltstack would be useful

  • Knowledge of Docker would be desirable

  • Workstation and PC hardware building and maintenance

You must be able to work with minimal supervision and to fairly tight deadlines. As this is a customer facing role you must also have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly at all levels. A willingness to undertake further training is essential, and full support will be provided with regards to this training.
