Job Description

AWE has a new opportunity for an experienced Measurement Scientist to join our Radiological Instrumentation and Calibration (RI&C) team. Here you will have the opportunity to work alongside a small team of engineers and subject matter experts calibrating a wide range of electrical, electronic, and thermal instrumentation. Calibrating both in lab and in-situ working with customers to provide certified calibrations traceable to national / international standards.

Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area

Salary: £33,300 - £49,950 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

Key Accountabilities for the role:

  • Successfully plan and deliver authorised programmes, tasks and projects to time and quality for the operational area

  • Report up to the Calibration Laboratory Manager key updates in a timely manner

  • Maintain and promote high personal standards, in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player

Key Responsibilities for the role:

  • Assist in the provision, maintenance, and implementation of local technical documentation for the calibration centre

  • Responsible for the day-to-day planning and execution of the programme work within the calibration laboratories

  • Support the delivery performance of the facility scheduling to meet customer requirements

  • Work to Key Performance Indicator metrics on schedule, quality, safety and delivery

  • Provide technical advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders

  • Work with others to form high performing teams

Successful Applicants are required to:

  • Be qualified to NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in a relevant technical discipline plus have industry experience. An engineering apprenticeship would be an advantage

  • Have a proven background within Engineering and a knowledge of instrument maintenance and calibration

  • Be able to demonstrate good communication skills with the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders across the organisation

  • Have an awareness of operational excellence, continuous improvement activities and their methodologies

  • Have an awareness and implementation of national and international standards (ISO, BSI)

  • Be willing to become a Work Supervisory Officer

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
