Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer - Balance of Plant

Reports to: Balance of Plant Lead Engineers.

The Role:
Reporting to the Balance of Plant Leads, the Mechanical Design Engineer shall support the design and development of the Balance of Plant Systems, this will include production of Process and Instrument Diagrams and 3D CAD models plus support to engineering design activities. Mechanical Design Engineer shall perform and organise design work activities in a variety of software packages.
Key Responsibilities:?
Using CAD to create technical plans and design high quality CAD product models by preparing general arrangement drawings, routine layouts, assemble and detail drawings.
Drawings, sketches, and diagrams and schemes.
Revise and update CAD drawings as required.
Develop working drawings from sketches or descriptions developed by Engineers.
Work closely with other Designer and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design.
Develop both 2D and 3D models, PFD's and P&ID's.
Coordinate and assist in team design reviews in order to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations.
Develop alternative design solutions or quick engineering solutions for complex problems.
Maintain records of design process in accordance with sound design practices and ISO requirements.
Maintain and update a database for the CAD design documentation.



Your Background:

Experience of CAD design and development within various sectors of engineering, and preferably in nuclear or highly regulated industries such as oil and gas or process sector.
Good knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to create and read technical drawings, and ability to understand and interpret designs.
Good IT skills and experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Solidworks, NX and Team centre collaboration.
Ability to transfer, display and manipulate drawing information using
Microsoft Office and other programmes.
Good attention to detail to create detailed drawings and ensure accuracy and quality
Good communication skills and teamwork with engineers and other project stake holders.
Organisation and time management to complete work to project deadlines.
Good 2D and 3D design skills and knowledge of design system collaboration such as in Team Centre.
General knowledge of health and safety requirements in order to design in line with industry standards.
Systems Engineering awareness.
Qualification:
Higher National Diploma in a related engineering or design discipline.
or, BEng in Engineering design discipline.
