As our reputation for proficient delivery of complex projects grows even stronger, we have a need for a number of Mechanical Design Engineers / Senior Mechanical Design Engineers to join us on projects based from our Sunderland office.
Mechanical Engineer / Senior Mechanical Engineer
Essential Skills
Experienced in mechanical design in accordance with BS/ISO standards
Ability to develop complete design concepts/scheme definitions and full detailed design solutions using the appropriate design tools from basic information to the relevant codes and standards, legal and regulatory requirements e.g. LOLER, EMUA etc
Production of general arrangement drawings, assembly drawings, component drawings, fabrication drawings, MPLs
Self-motivated and customer focussed
Able to work alone or part of a team
Good communication skills, both written and spoken
Application of 2D and 3D CAD software
Microsoft Office Suite
Design for manufacture
Production of scoping calculations

Desirable Skills:
Perform approval/checking role as required and directed
Familiarity with stress analysis tools
Application of GD&T
Familiar with drawing standard BS 8888 and ASME Y14.5
Mechanical machinery
Pipework and pressure vessels
Structural steelwork
Hydraulic system design
CAD packages: AutoCad, Inventor, Catia
Qualifications and Affiliations:
HND in an applicable engineer/design discipline preferred or HNC with relevant experience
Security clearance:
Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
