AWE is currently recruiting for Nuclear Materials Inventory Control Operations Technician of High Hazard Nuclear Material to work as part of a team supporting their Manufacturing and Production operations. This role will give you your first steps to a career in a diverse and unique manufacturing environment that offers full training and career development.

As a Nuclear Materials Inventory Control Operations Technician, you will:

  • Assist the Accountable Nuclear Materials Inventory Holder with duties in accordance with the Nuclear Material Accountancy & Control manual.
  • Ensure and contribute to the safe, secure and clean working arrangements.
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
  • Operation of Nuclear Materials Databases.
  • Assist with the production of key accountancy related reports.
  • Ensure all movements of materials are carried out in accordance with local facility procedures.
  • Ensure local safety arrangements for Accountable Nuclear Material are complied with.
  • Assist the with the physical verification, stock verification and surveillance activities.
  • Ensure Material storage areas are appropriately secured.
  • Prepared to work shift work if required

  • Ability to work methodically to prescriptive instructions
  • Ability to challenge and guide others
  • Basic IT skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of basic health and safety practice an advantage
  • Experience of an engineering or manufacturing environment however it is not essential as training will be given.

Candidates May be required to work shift e.g.

Early = 06:00-14:45

Late = 14:45-23:00

Special requirements

  • In order to obtain the required security for these roles you will need to be 18 years of age.
  • These roles are governed by Health and Safety at Work Regulations and require all candidates to have an Occupational Health-set fitness level in order to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) needed to work in controlled environments. This includes a respirator.
  • Fitness will be assessed at the pre-employment medical held at AWE which follows the initial selection process.

All candidates must be able to apply for and maintain the correct security clearance for this role.
