Job Title: Principal / Lead Mechanical Engineer

As our reputation for proficient delivery of complex projects grows even stronger, we have a need for a Principal / Lead Mechanical Engineer who is required to lead complex multi discipline projects, to successfully complete engineering design project requirements.
Principal / Lead Mechanical Engineer
This role will be working across the specified framework, working closely in project teams providing engineering design solutions. Ideally for this role the successful candidate will be experienced in the design of mechanical handling equipment.
Initially the successful candidate will be involved in a project team which includes the design deliverables of reconfiguring conveyor systems, designing new drum inspection facility (weighing and swabbing), designing drum handling equipment and substantiating the design, creating specifications for pillar cranes, and providing all associated assemblies, detailed drawings and supporting documentation.
Lead prepare and contribute to review meetings with the customer (Single discipline design reviews, Hazops, project progress).
Accomplished document and report writing abilities including Functional Requirement Specifications, Equipment specifications, Risk Assessments, TRAM analysis documentation, authoring Factory and Site Acceptance Test procedures and Operation and Maintenance Manuals and Technical Construction Files in support of Lifetime Quality Records
Experience with all aspects of mechanical systems from the simplest fastener technologies, bearing, coupling and power transmission applications, through to complex hydraulic, pneumatic and electro-mechanical systems and robotics including monitoring and control
Provide instruction to assist engineers and designer to produce project deliverables including DPD's, MFD's, MSD's, 3D design layouts, building layout drawings, assembly drawing and manufacturing drawings.
Apply a systematic technical process to provide design input for assemblies and systems, ensuring any design is safe, fit for purpose and meets the requirements placed upon it.

Degree in a relevant engineering or business discipline or equivalent level of continuous professional development and experience (ideally in a Nuclear engineering environment).
Mechanical Handling experience - Skids / Bogies / Lifting and Transfer Equipment
Have a proven track record in project delivery and the ability to operate in a complex environment
Experienced in leading multi-disciplinary design teams
Proven experience in creating a successful technical client relationship
Ability to assist in the development of processes and procedures that drive business continuous improvement and efficiency
Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
