Package - £25,850 - £33,000 (subject to skills and experience)

AWE are currently recruiting for a Radiation Protection Technicians in support of the Nuclear Threat Reduction portal testing programme, on behalf of a government customer. The purpose of this role is to provide day-to-day assistance to assure the operational readiness of our portal testing capability.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Procurement, configuration and through life management of radiological sources
- Management and maintenance of radiological inventory
- Consignor/consignee duties for off-site deployment tasks
- Handling and transport of radiological sources
- Become appointed Authorised Source Inventory Holder (ASIH)
Providing logistical support to the portal testing programme by ensuring the operational capability and readiness of vehicles and equipment
Providing practical support to the portal testing team by carrying out identified logistic deployment tasks, including driving duties, as and when required
Contributing to continuous improvement by identifying and reporting lessons learned and capability gaps
May be required to carry out safety related roles in support of the portal testing programme
Ideally, we are looking for the successful candidate to have the following:
Additional driving qualifications, such as an ADR licence
Good communication skills
Organisation skills; capable of multi-tasking, identifying and managing priorities to meet challenging and changing time scales
Experience of working within a team toward common goals
A positive attitude and ability to adapt to change
The ideal applicant will need to have a background in radiological matters, have working knowledge of Information Technology (IT), hold a valid UK Driving Licence and be willing to occasionally work unsociable hours and support off-site working.
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
