AWE is currently recruiting for a SCADA engineer to contribute to the successful operations of the Orion Laser Facility (the foremost facility in the UK for Laser Physics) by maintaining and developing the software used to run the laser and diagnostic equipment. As an application engineer, you will form part of the team responding to the demands of all 5 networks running in the facility alongside mechanical and electrical counterparts.
Location - Reading area
Package - £33,850 - £45,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

What will you be responsible for?
Developing and maintaining the of SCADA software within the facility
Learning, understanding, or having knowledge of LabView control software
Designing, building & maintaining software and software modifications to meet business requirements using agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result
Ensuring configuration and change is managed and controlled throughout software development lifecycle
Producing required documentation to support all phases of the system development process
Liaising with key stakeholder to agree requirements and hold design reviews
Supporting facility operations within the laser facility
What will you need to be considered?
Proven experience of delivering projects with a consideration for quality, time and cost
Strong communication skills (written and oral)
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Good working knowledge of Excel
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
