Senior and Principal Human Factors Consultants

CRA is an integrated Risk, Safety, Security and Human Factors consultancy and has provided a range of services to Critical National Infrastructure based clients for over 20 years. Since 2020 we have been part of the Assystem Group, a global provider of engineering, digitisation and Systems Engineering services to the pharmaceutical, transport, civil, regulatory, power and renewables sectors.

We are seeking to employ Senior and Principal Consultants on a permanent basis to work with our expanding Human and Organisational Factors team, joining CRA during an exciting phase of growth.

As part of the wider Assystem Group, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects in the safety critical domains.

Primarily working in the civil nuclear and defence industries with opportunities to support the development of capability into other safety critical sectors. New build and energy transition projects provide long term opportunities.

This role requires a highly motivated individual who will excel at technical work and support business development activities with both new and existing clients.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree qualified (Bachelors, Masters, Doctorate) in Ergonomics, Human Factors or Occupational Psychology.
  • Chartered Member of CIEHF (or eligible to achieve).
  • Demonstrable experience in the successful application of Human Factors methods in high-hazard sectors.
  • Strong technical and commercial Project Management skills, preferably with experience in a dynamic consultancy environment.
  • Ability to provide effective mentoring and technical oversight to early-careers consultants.
  • High level of IT proficiency, computer literacy, MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to think intuitively and creatively.
  • Strong inter-personal skills with demonstrable ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to persuade and negotiate.
  • Ability to achieve necessary UK security clearance.
  • Willingness to travel within UK and overseas.

Desirable

  • Experience in consultancy environment.
  • Experience of business development including identification and development of prospects and proposal writing.
  • Experience of Human Factors Integration in large multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
  • Experience in the application of human error analysis techniques within high-hazard industries.
  • Knowledge of safety case principles and their application within regulated industries.
  • Experience within the defence and civil nuclear sectors.
