Job Description

On behalf of our client we are recruiting for a Structural Engineer to join their team based in Bristol. Ideally your engineering experiences would have covered heavy industrial projects. You must enjoy utilising your design analysis skills whilst coaching more junior engineers with your knowledge and experience. You may have come from a mechanical design background and certainly would have Structural Engineer experience on either Nuclear or Defence Sector projects with a focus on larger scale steel structures, pressure vessels, storage tanks as well as construction related temporary work design.

 

  • To perform Design Analysis in accordance with industry standards
  • To proactively find solutions when Design Analysis are not conclusive.
  • To write reports
  • To write Technical Queries and Concessions Requests
  • To perform quick Design Impact Analysis
  • To estimate time required for its production
  • To check Design Analysis production
  • To proactively give optimisation feedback to its Senior Analyst Engineer or Engineering Design Lead
  • To be capable to define and organise the Design Analysis package production
  • To support the Engineering Design Lead with project and tender costing
  • To justify Design Impacts and proactively find solutions
  • To contribute when required to Design Reviews
  • To proactively seek best approaches with regards to HSE requirements
  • To manage Design Analysis Changes and Configurations
  • To drive other Analyst Engineer Level 1
  • Structural Design Master Degree (or equivalent)
  • Design Analysis and Calculation/Dimensioning
  • Experience in the nuclear and/or Defence sectors will be advantageous
  • Quality and HSE key Laws and Standards
  • Management of Design changes and Design configuration.
  • Structural Design Analysis Software including AUTODESK ROBOT for numerical Design Analysis
  • Use of MathCAD
  • To perform Structural Design Analysis (hand assessment, numerical assessment, when required impact analysis using FEA)
  • To estimate costs and lead time for design analysis activities
  • To ensure compliancy with BS EN 1990 and BS EN 1993
