AWE is currently recruiting for Systems Engineers to provide Engineering capability to the Trials and Test Technology Centre in support of AWE Programmes. Location: Reading/Basingstoke area

Salary: £26,500 - £38,000 plus allowances (dependent on skills and experience)

Within this role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced engineering diagnostic team to provide supervised Systems Engineering support to scientific and engineering explosive trial programmes. This work will enable you to learn about the practical delivery of diagnostic methods, tools, and processes in support of explosive trials. The trials will be conducted at various range locations across the UK with ample opportunities for professional development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Elicit, analyse, and translate stakeholder needs into technical requirements.

  • Undertake test results analysis and documentation.

  • Support development and delivery of viable technical solutions that meet customer requirements.

  • Understand and follow long term plans in support of life-cycle phases using Systems Engineering best practice.

  • Support process capture, implementation, and improvements for integrating the sub-systems.

  • Support and deliver diagnostic systems at a range location to optimise data gathering in support of product development.

  • Support project reviews for internal programmes and external contracts, including providing written reports and verbal briefs to management and stakeholders

  • Develop own awareness of Systems Engineering best practice and wider systems issues.

  • The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs

To be considered for the role, ideally you will have completed an apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification in an engineering discipline supported by practical experience.

  • Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.

  • Candidates must be willing to travel and stay away from home for the working week.

  • Ideally the candidate will hold a full, clean UK driving licence.

  • The candidate should be able to give examples where they have been part of a team to achieve a common engineering goal.
