Job Description

Corporate Risk Associates has been an Assystem owned business since 2020. We are established as one of the UK's largest integrated Risk, Safety and Human Factors consultancies, renowned for 1st class delivery of quality services to the Critical National Infrastructure in the UK and overseas.
We have a long history of helping current nuclear operations and new build projects manage their safety and risk in the civil and defence nuclear sectors. This provides opportunities for varied project work for our staff.

Typical activities will include:

  • Management and provision of waste management and safety support to clients including radioactive waste producers, radioactive waste management organisations, decommissioning sites, and regulators, both in the UK and overseas.
  • Working with colleagues to deliver client needs to time and budget.
  • Production of high-quality technical deliverables to the agreed milestones and cost.
  • Review, verification, and approval of work produced by team members.
  • Ability to clarify and agree project requirements at all levels.
  • Assist with the preparation of estimates for projects or proposals.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in any of the following disciplines - Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics or Mathematics.
  • Experience of the full radioactive waste management lifecycle, including high-level strategic studies to support decision-making at different stages of the lifecycle.
  • Experience of developing radioactive waste management strategies for waste processing, characterisation, treatment, packaging and disposal; including Integrated Waste Strategies and assessment of different options using methods such as BAT and BPM.
  • Experience of developing radioactive waste management strategies for waste processing, characterisation, treatment, packaging and disposal; including Integrated Waste Strategies and assessment of different options using methods such as BAT and BPM.
  • Familiar with interpreting numerical data/information including characterisation data and radionuclide inventories.
  • Fluent in English Language
  • Full driving licence and be eligible to apply for any security clearances deemed necessary by CRA clients.
  • Capable of working unsupervised within broad guidelines
  • Must aim to provide clear, concise and well-reasoned analyses and reports, and present these findings confidently at meetings. Be able to interface and liaise with key client and internal stakeholders, taking full account of a client's operating culture while conducting audits and investigations.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience of providing safety assessment advice and supporting documentation, for a range of facilities and nuclear hazard types, in a fit for purpose, proportionate manner in line with client expectations and arrangements.
  • Understanding of UK nuclear regulatory requirements particularly relating to Nuclear Waste strategy development and management.
  • Experience of waste storage and transport logistics and consignment of radioactive wastes to suitable disposal sites.
  • Experience of nuclear decommissioning, including UK Nuclear and NDA Sites.
  • Experience in the development of decommissioning plans for nuclear facilities.
  • Experience of leading and managing teams.
  • Experience in consultancy environment.
