Assystem is proud to work in partnership with one of the UK's most prestigious nuclear defence manufacturing companies by providing talented temporary resource needed to deliver complex engineering projects.

Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a Welder to work at our customers site in Derby.

As a Welder, you will provide practical support to the welding development projects and support the shop floor to ensure uninterrupted production.

Hours: 37 hours, Split between Mornings & Afternoons (overtime achievable)
Contract type: PAYE via Umbrella solution


Role Profile


The Welder will be responsible for the interpretation of manufacturing drawings, customer drawings and written specifications then moving through the process to weld, dress or finish components to meet the desired drawing requirements. Welding will be carried out in line with the procedure, all welding will be manual TIG welding in various orientations.

What we are ideally looking for in applications:

  • Be a time-served welding apprenticeship including City and Guilds, NVQ3 or equivalent.
  • Experience in welding a range of materials, including stainless steel.
  • Possess experience in pressure welding to 100% X-Ray / U/T standard.
  • Professional and flexible attitude, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of health, safety (including COSHH) and environmental procedures.
