What's so significant about the 2nd December?

The date Italian physicist Enrico Fermi’s nuclear reactor named the Chicago Pile-1 became the first to create a self-sustaining chain reaction on 2nd December, 1942.

As nuclear power is known to be a leading source of clean energy across the globe, this day aims to remind us that healthy energy enables healthy lives. World Nuclear Energy Day 2020 is designed to celebrate the inspirational commitment of people involved in the nuclear energy sector during the pandemic, often thanklessly and tirelessly working to keep the lights on and the smooth operation of essential nuclear facilities

World Nuclear Energy Day was designed as an annual event by a group of grassroots members of the nuclear energy industry.

As a celebration of nuclear energy and the people who make it happen.  Nuclear power is a leading source of clean energy across the globe, the day aims to remind us that clean energy enables healthy lives.
